A Supportive Environment
I use an eclectic approach in therapy sessions of both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy practices and Person-Centered Counseling. With Cognitive Behavior Therapeutic practices, I work with clients to develop specific coping skills and strategies to help clients change ways of thinking, feeling and behaving to work towards mental and emotional health. I also take a Person-Centered counseling approach in which I hold the client in unconditional positive regard to build a trusting, and safe environment.
I support clients through a variety of topics including: anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, addiction, and life transitions (retirement, job transition, divorce, sexual identity, moving, death, infertility, etc.).
I believe that all people at some point in their life feel stuck, and therapy is a process to help a person feel unstuck through self-discovery, self-awareness, learning, and sometimes through practicing new ways of thinking and/or new behaviors.
In 2008, I received my Master’s of Arts in Counseling from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. I have an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education from Western Michigan University (2001).
